about

"Baltimore" was inspired by the April 1968 riots in the eastern US city, a reaction to Martin Luther King’s assassination.

The track features Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream) on vocals and is taken from Turzi's second full length album, ‘B’.

In the spirit of Turzi’s old-school heroes, the track is a Madchester-sounding pop song with heavy sound-effects and mixing skills by the cult British duo Max Heyes / Brendan Lynch, a.k.a Lynch Mob of 90’s fame, also known for their work with Paul Weller and Primal Scream.

Steve Moore a.k.a. Lovelock produced a deep vintage electronic remix, very much in the same vein as 'B' track 'Brasilia'. When asked about this similarity, Moore replied, 'Brasilia is my favourite tune from 'B'!’. It’s almost as if Turzi had remixed himself!

Turzi did however get in on the action with Parisian nu-psych pals, Zombie Zombie. The result is a live and funkier version of ‘Baltimore’. Synth saxophone, wah-wah guitars, bongos and special vocal effects combine for a fresh-sounding dub, loaded with that early 90’s session vibe.

The infamous Lynch Mob ‘assault’ the original version for an ‘end of the world’ version. Imagine the city of Baltimore the day after the enormous riot: that’s how the remix sounds, dark weird sounds and sub-bass effects.

The digital bonus comes from Aussie newcomers Civil Civic. Raw and energetic, their version fuses a pop guitar riff with some ‘in yer face’ beats to thrilling effect.
